Friendship

Hi everyone.. I wrote this on facebook this afternoon and decided to put it on my blog too, because I really find it so true.

Its true that most of life is about making decisions.

Friendship, too, is also a decision.

Who to befriend.
Who to hold dear to you.
How close you allow them to be to your heart.

Believe it or not, friendship is something that can change a person's direction, character and even affect his destiny in life.

This is because friendship grows in you the values that you choose to grow. Reinforcement come from the people whom you call friends.

Therefore we need to choose carefully whom we really call a friend, a close friend or a best friend. Because when one looks at that person whom you call a friend, they see the things that you value in life.

It takes a lot of guts to acknowledge that we have some wrong values in life and consciously choose friends that are holding on to the right values, because that is very uncomfortable to begin with.

So more often than not, we choose like-minded people as friends.

They have the same attitudes.
They have the same values.
They have the same beliefs.
And this is only natural, because where there is acceptance, there is comfort and freedom to let down your defenses and be yourself.

And when you can be you, it feels great.You will derive a lot of joy as you spend time having fun together.

However, friendship is not just about spending time having fun only. You can do that anywhere else.

True friends are there for you when times are tough.
They are willing to risk adverse responses from you to tell you the truth about yourself.
If you stubbornly refuse to listen, they gently choose to remain silent and decide to be there, 'just in case'.
They do not turn their faces away when you tell the truth in turn, because they understand that love is not about saying nice things all the time.

They are like sticks stuck to the soil, just right beside the vine that hangs limp and can't climb anymore.
They stand together with you, nevermind the mud on their feet.
They continue to love you, to support you, to listen to you, to pray for you, to help you from behind, even without you knowing it.
Even if the whole world is pointing fingers at you, they make a decision to stand with you.

Because they have chosen you.
They have called you a friend.
