Remember that He didn't Forget

Just the other day, I was watching snippets of movies on cable TV back to back.  Coincidentally, both movies starred comedienne Sandra Ng:  Black Rose II and Echoes of the Rainbow.

 

This one was funny, because it was very old school humour.  I was amazed at Sandra's ability to say all her lines backwards throughout the show!!! For example 别动！ = 动别!... She did this for all the long sentences too!  After watching this show, I really admire her level of excellence and her professionalism to keep this up for an entire filming!  Newfound respect!

Ok this was a show where all the acting captured me.  Sandra Ng's character was a longsuffering mother with a dying (handsome & smart) elder son and scraping to make ends meet.  The whole show, she kept repeating to her loved ones: "做人，总要信".. She kept saying that, even in the face of the most bitter circumstances, remaining as the stoic strong figure in the family.  When her hubby made her a pair of shoes, she named them 'Trouble' and 'Blessing', signifying that her life was a life with alternating steps of trouble blessing.... a poignant picture of life itself.

There was a part of the show I couldn't help crying.  It was when she was standing beside her husband (Simon Yam) at the hospital reception counter.  Her hands slowly moved to his hand and fingered the place where the wedding ring should have been, but instead, there was only an indent made by wearing the ring after so many years.  She cried without looking at her husband when she realized it wasn't there, because she knew he had pawned it to pay for their dying son's blood transfusion.  

Of course, as expected, the elder son eventually died (a very dramatical death).  But well, he had his first kiss before he died.

At the end of the show, Sandra's younger (now grown up) son told his mum that his older brother once said that it is possible for 2 rainbows to appear in the sky at the same time.  She was skeptical, but then ended the conversation with: Well, if that was what your brother said, I believe in it. (Believing seems to be the theme of the movie)

With that, the show ended, leaving a mishmash of sadness and sweetness in my heart.  Few days later, I saw a photo taken by one of my friends on facebook and was instantly attracted to it:

Twin rainbows!  You know that God says He remembers His promises everytime He sees the rainbow.  But when you see two rainbows, its like you're carrying out a conversation with Him:

You: God, you really remember? 

God: Yes, I remember.

You: Confirm?

God: Double confirm!

So, with permission from my friend, I shared this photo, using the following caption:

Because its all to easy to think that He has forgotten about you, or that you've successfully managed to blend in with the crowd so that He doesn't notice.  But no, His eyes are still trained on you.  Not in a stalker way, but in a loving Father sort of way.  Watching. Waiting. Even if we don't realize it.  Patiently awaiting as we work our way through failures, disappointments, stinky attitudes, rebellion and selfishness to come to the realization that He never left us all this while.  That He's all ready to continue running the race with you, from where you'd last left off.
